Professions are a major part of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, and optimal herbalism routes have always been a primary focus for Herbalists. As Blizzard attempts to bring World of Warcraft back to its roots, one key system for the Dragonflight expansion is the revamp of the professions system.

Crafting is seeing a major rework that can lead to ways to obtain vital gear, as well as making gold in-game. In order to craft these items, though, you're going to need the right materials. That's where herbalism, one of the key gathering professions in WoW, can come in handy.

In order to make herbalists super efficient as they gather, we've compiled a guide to the best herbalism farming routes. We will cover the three key areas to gather herbs in the Dragon Isles:

  • The Waking Shores
  • Ohn'ahran Plains
  • Azure Span

A fourth zone, Thaldraszus, isn't optimal for farming due to the nature of how it works. As a result, we won't have a herbalism farming route available.

Best Herbalism Farming Route - The Waking Shores

WoW Dragonflight: Herbalism Farming Routes (2)

We start with the first zone you'll visit in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. The Waking Shores is set up to offer a natural and obvious herbalism route. As an added benefit, the route suits well for those skilled at Dragonriding.

The actual route only utilizes about half of the zone itself. Your best bet to efficiently farm nodes is to run laps through the area's river system. On the eastern edge of the map lies a river delta where you can begin your laps. From there, you run through the winding river as you make your way into the southern delta that connects with the Ohn'ahran Plains. Once you reach the delta, complete the circle by making your way northeast back to the original delta.

If you're feeling up for it, you can dip back into the river as you complete the loop.

Great Herbalism Farming Route - Ohn'ahran Plains

WoW Dragonflight: Herbalism Farming Routes (3)

With the Ohn'ahran Plains, we can either do one big loop or split it up into two separate herbalism routes. Like The Waking Shores, the core of our farming laps will revolve around the river networks.

Ohn'ahran Plains sees the river split into two: one running down the east and the other dipping towards the southwest. If you're looking to maximize your coverage when farming, you can easily connect these two loops together. Furthermore, this is where the manner in which herbalism nodes spawn in Dragonflight can work to your advantage.

Gathering has changed in World of Warcraft, and now the nodes are spawning throughout the map rather than specific pre-fixed locations. Being able to focus on specific areas of the zone versus covering the entire map will affect your haul; make sure you plan your time wisely! Given the size of Ohn'ahran Plains, this is doubly important.

Good Herbalism Farming Route - Azure Span

The final of the three zones is also the smallest. Azure Span offers lots in terms of quests and storytelling but not so much in terms of herbalism farming.

There are two main paths you'll want to focus on. Like Ohn'ahran Plains, you can merge these two smaller routes into one big one. The caveat here is you can pick and choose what color palette you want your environment to look like. In the west, you'll be farming through a more temperate climate. In the center, however, it's all cold and snow all the time.
