A new day dawns, a fresh canvas for God's goodness. As we center our lives on Him, may joy rise within us, prayers flow from our hearts, and gratitude color our every step.

Second, to pray without ceasing means that our lives are constantly turned toward God the Father. We recognize that everything in life involves Him, that we can't do life apart from Him. Third, to pray without ceasing means that we put everything in God's hands.

Yet, Jesus also taught His disciples that our Father hears prayers offered silently or in secret, and Paul tells us the Spirit who strengthens our faith and hope through prayer also intercedes for us with groans too deep for words (6:5–6; Rom. 8:26).

Sanctification refers to the process by which God's people are made like Him in His holy nature. Paul declares that God is Himself the source of our sanctification: “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you” (v. 5:23). Peace is an attribute of God that Paul frequently notes in his benedictions.

No Christian will miss out on this joy, because Paul insists that "whether we are awake or asleep we [will] live with him." This is a firm reminder that departed Christians will be resurrected when the trumpet announces the coming of Christ and living Christians will be caught up to be with Christ.

First Thessalonians provides Christians with the clearest biblical passage on the coming rapture of believers, an event that will inaugurate the seven-year tribulation. At the rapture, Christ will return for His people. The dead in Christ shall rise first, while those still living will follow close behind.
